Strong play on both sides of the football gives Mississippi State the 17-3 lead over No. 8 LSU in Tiger Stadium.
The first half was highlighted with the Bulldogs’ no-huddle as they outgained the Tigers in total yards 263 to 185, respectively.
Mississippi State’s junior quarterback Dak Prescott passed to De’Runnya Wilson for a 9-yard touchdown. The scoring strike was the first passing touchdown allowed by LSU this season.
On their third drive of the game, LSU moved the ball 62 yards on 8 plays, including a 44-yard pass from running back Terrence Magee to freshman wide receiver Malachi Dupre, bringing the ball to the Bulldogs’ 9-yard line. The Tigers eventually turned it over on downs after getting stopped on four consecutive plays.
Five plays later, the Bulldogs concluded a 98-yard drive with a touchdown by running back Josh Robinson to push the score to a 14-0 Bulldogs lead.
In the second quarter, the two teams split field goals to close the half with a score of 17-3 in the Bulldogs favor.
Mississippi State will receive the second half kickoff after deferring the ball during the opening coin toss.
