Grade: B+
After five years, The Crystal Method has released a follow up to the 2009 album “Divided by Night.” The self-titled album starts out strong with the experimentally synth-heavy “Emulator” that will probably be heard at many EDM clubs. The real strength of “The Crystal Method” is the songs with featured artists. Dia Frampton lends her talents to “Over It” and LeAnn Rimes displays her vocal range on “Grace.” The Crystal Method has always made music to dance to, and this album does not disappoint. Despite the band’s usual consistency, “The Crystal Method” is slightly scattered. There is a tug-of-war between the fast-paced and slow-paced songs instead of working together. The LP is dance-heavy in the beginning and calm in the end. However, for most listeners, this will still be a good addition to The Crystal Method discography.
