The Journalism Student Association decided to organize a boycott of all Journalism classes Monday to protest next fall’s tuition increase.
Tuition is expected to increase by 10 percent. President David S. Kuykendall addressed a group of 200 students saying, “We are confident that all journalism students will boycott all classes.”
A local Gross Engineers employee is in listed in serious condition Sunday night after being involved in an accident at the Petal Municipal Power Plant.
Duane LaChance, 53, suffered third-degree burns after 15 thousand volts of electricity flowed through his body when he accidentally touched a power line while installing new pipes on the plant’s roof. LaChance was transferred to the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital.
The Hattiesburg Board of Education reported that public school enrollment dropped for the third year in a row, down to 1,050 students.
