Chavis and Sumlin both spoke to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle at the airport, and both confirmed the hire. Chavis said there’s a “great opportunity to win — and win big.”
Neither Texas A&M nor LSU has confirmed the hire officially, but both Chavis and Sumlin’s comments all but assure LSU coach Les Miles will be searching for a new defensive coordinator.
Chavis spent six seasons in Baton Rouge.

John Chavis: Certainly we’ve looked at A&M and the things that are happening here, and there’s a great opportunity to win — and win big.
