The upper rooms of Kirby Smith exposed to open air, likely the first time since the construction of the building, on Friday, May 20, 2022.
After months of construction, Kirby Smith, the infamous 57-year old dorm located on the north edge of campus, is no more.
The location where the dorm was previously located will be turned into a green space, LSU officials say.
The building, which was named after a Confederate General, is only one of two buildings on campus named after problematic historical figures to be renamed or demolished. The demolition was unrelated to the name.
