Netflix recently released new seasons of a few series that’s got everyone talking – with some of the most popular of them being “Love, Death, and Robots,” “Stranger Things,” and “Who Killed Sara.”
“Love, Death, and Robots” is an adult series of animated shorts with genres ranging from science fiction and fantasy to mystery and horror. Similar to shows like “Black Mirror,” each episode is different and allows viewers to take a peek into a new dimension.
The Emmy-winning series just dropped its third volume on the platform and it’s being met with great reviews. The Spool, a pop culture news outlet, describes the new volume as the show’s finest form and “an outlet for animators to prove their works can still be artful and valid when they aren’t made for kids.” The new volume is specifically being praised for its animation style and exploration of topics that viewers can actually resonate with.
As of the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed “Love, Death, and Robots” for a fourth season.
Next on our list is the hit series ”Stranger Things”. The show centers around a group of friends growing up in 1980s Indiana who witness supernatural occurrences and end up in bizarre situations trying to find answers. Notable actors on the show are Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, and Winona Ryder.
The series has been nominated for multiple Golden Globe Awards, as well as, Grammys for its visual media. Its fourth season was just released after a three-year hiatus and focuses heavily on the development of the main characters, their navigation of becoming high-schoolers, and their deciphering of the supernatural occurrences around them.
The show was approved for its fifth and final season in February of this year.
Lastly, we have “Who Killed Sara.” The Mexican mystery drama tells the story of Alex Guzman, a man seeking revenge after being framed and wrongfully imprisoned for the murder of his sister, Sara. As he progresses toward eventually finding the real culprit, secrets about the Guzman family history, Sara’s life, and what led to her untimely disappearance begin to unravel.
The show features actors such as Litzy Balderas, Manolo Cardona, and Ximena Lamadrid.
Espinof describes the series as an “entertaining thriller with the soul of a telenovela” that successfully blends multiple genres to create a compelling show.
Its third and final season recently premiered on Netflix, drawing in tens of millions of watchers earning the show a title as one of Netflix’s most popular foreign series to date.
All three of these shows offer binge-worthy, award-nominated content for thrill-lovers with a Netflix subscription. The platform seems to be redeeming itself after losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers earlier this year due to increases in monthly fees, the removal/cancellation of some shows, and the firing of about 150 company employees that they had just hired months prior.
The continuation of these popular series could be the key to maintaining customer loyalty and high viewership — at least for the time being.
