LSU softball third basemen Danieca Coffey was declared out for the remainder of the 2024 season on Tuesday.
“Very unfortunate loss for the team,” head coach Beth Torina said, “but she will return again next year.”

On Saturday, March 2, in a game against San Diego State University, Coffey collided with catcher Hannah Carson on an attempt to make a diving catch.
Immediately following the collision, Coffey grabbed her knee and looked to be in an immense amount of pain.
Torina didn’t specify what the injury was, only saying that Coffey has “a knee issue.”
Freshman Maddox McKee is expected to take her place until further notice.
“We’re really lucky to have the amount of depth that we have,” Torina said. “The freshman class we have is really strong.”
The Tigers will travel to Lexington on Friday to face Kentucky in their first SEC matchup of the season.
