She joins LSU women’s basketball coaches Sue Gunter, Van Chancellor and Kim Mulkey in the Hall of Fame.
Augustus graduated from LSU in 2005, and she played at LSU from 2002 to 2006.
She led the Tigers to three consecutive Final Four appearances and is a two-time National Player of the Year, a two-time SEC Player of the Year, a two-time Wooden Award winner, and a two-time First-Team All-American.
For her collegiate career, Augustus averaged 19.3 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Augustus’ No. 33 jersey was retired at LSU in 2010, and hangs from the rafters of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center today.
The Baton Rouge native was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx, and she had a 14-year playing career.
Augustus is a four-time WNBA champion and won the WNBA Finals MVP in 2011. Her No. 33 jersey was also retired by the Lynx.
Augustus also played for Team USA’s women’s basketball team in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.
In January 2023, a statue of Augustus was unveiled outside LSU basketball’s practice facility. The statue is next to the statues of Pete Maravich, Shaquille O’Neal and Bob Pettit.

Former LSU women’s basketball player, Seimone Augustus was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday.
