Knocked Loose has just released a new beast of a single, “Don’t Reach For Me”.
Following their February comeback, “Blinding Faith”, the Kentucky hardcore punk rockers are building anticipation for their long-awaited studio album “You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To” set to release May 10 of this year under Pure Noise Records.
Fans are expecting a wild ride from the two released singles from the 10-track album, with guest features from singers like the frontman of Motionless in White, Chris Motionless for a second visit of a 2022 calculated punch with “Slaughterhouse 2” and post-pop/rocker Poppy with the track “Suffocate”.
“Don’t Reach For Me” is mean, grimy and demands attention. Frontman Bryan Garris sends shrieking and deliberate howls accompanied by thunderous drums, stank-face-worthy guitar riffs and bass lines, the band is gearing up for hard and heavy hits with this new release.
This new release serves as a new era as it is faster and heavier than fans have ever heard from the band, and some tracks are even angrier than the quintet has ever gone.
The music video shows the band in an empty church while they hunt down an enemy with cinder blocks, pipes, and noose-tied ropes. The violence in an empty holy building with smashed glass shows that Garris is sending out warning shots for people who mess with the people he holds close with lyrics like “No lies can spread from a tongue removed/I will cut off your tongue/Don’t reach for me”.
The video is a blur and plays into a thriller movie formula with shots of members walking down backlit corridors with weapons of destruction, which is not new for hardcore punk videos, but the way it is captured shows the creative liberty that the group has. An example of this can be seen in the release of “Blinding Faith” where the band took a creative move with the release of a music video for the track that was completely captured on a film camera, adding to the band’s creative portfolio.
The Louisville natives have seen booming popularity with their songs hitting TikTok spreading their songs across the platform. The band is not finished with their run as they just finished a Europe and UK tour with Deafheaven and are set to start touring with Loathe, Show Me The Body and Speed at the end of the month.
“You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To” is available for preorder now.
