A disruption in service left LSU’s Baton Rouge campus without power Monday afternoon, according to communications from LSU Facility Services.
The outage was campus-wide, said Tammy Millican, executive director of Facility and Property Oversight.
About four hours after the disruption began, Entergy personnel finished troubleshooting the stoppage, and Facility Services began the process of re-energizing campus, according to a mass email from the university; power returned shortly after.
LSU’s last large-scale outage came in October, as the third in a series during the fall 2023 semester.
The first outage, which canceled the semester’s second day of classes, drew criticism from local government, who pointed to repeated service stoppages and failing infrastructure as a sign of Entergy’s increasing inconsistency.
Since then, the energy company has responded with a number of improvements to utility infrastructure on campus.
LSU is also in the midst of a 30-year and $110 million utility modernization project through company Centrio Energy.
