The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Brian Hect will be performing a mix of classic and contemporary pieces at 7:30 p.m. with free admission. The trombone player has been the recipient of many performance awards, has a solo career and offers lessons to others wanting to learn the instrument.

A Celebration of Black History Month | College of Music and Dramatic Building
In celebration of Black History Month, LSU Vocal Studies is hosting a concert of traditional spirituals and art-songs. The music is all by African American composers and will be performed by guest artists, LSU students and faculty. The spiritual concert starts at 5:30 p.m. and the art-song concert at 7:30 p.m., both with free admission.
No Matter What Kind of Black You Are | EBR River Branch Library
Independent artist and local photographer Courtland Galore has teamed up with LSU students to put together the “No Matter What Kind of Black You Are: Art Exhibition” at the East Baton Rouge River Branch Library. The exhibition celebrates black culture and “what it means and feels like to be black.” The event is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with a $20 general admission fee. All black attire has been requested.
Krewe of Southdowns | Downtown Baton Rouge
The 37th Krewe of Southdowns Parade starts rolling at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “Southdowns in Wonderland” starting at Glasgow Middle School and ending at Acadian-Perkins Plaza Shopping Center. The festivities are family-friendly and open to all in Baton Rouge, even pets.

Krewe of Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade | Downtown Baton Rouge
The Krewe of Spanish Town is the biggest largest Mardi Gras parade in Baton Rouge, originating back in 1981. This year’s theme is “Wasted Away in Flamingoville” and the parade kicks off at noon.
