Things were clicking for LSU in College Station, as the Tigers came away with a comfortable 81-58 win over Texas A&M.
Just about everything seemed to have gone LSU’s way Monday night. Showcasing stellar defensive prowess, the Tigers held Texas A&M to just 14 points in the first half.
“You build on that, you get in the film room, and you show them how you did that,” Mulkey said. “We’ve got to continue to teach on the defensive end, because that can be us one night. That can be us where we can’t score the ball.”
The Tigers also thrived in transition, coming away with eight steals as a team and 16 fastbreak points. Of their 81 points, 44 of them came in the paint.
Adding to the remarkable night, LSU was once again effective on the boards, grabbing 41 rebounds as a team, with 31 of those being on defense.
But coupled with its efficient defensive efforts and its ability to convert those efforts to points, LSU was also scoring the ball as well as they could hope for.

Aneesah Morrow controlled the paint with yet another double-double performance, marking her 16th of the season. She finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds, shooting 11-for-17 from the field.
“Being Aneesah, she’s done that the whole year,” Mulkey said. “She just can finish. When Angel picked up the fourth foul, I thought Morrow was pretty good on the boards.”
Flau’jae Johnson was the workhorse for the guards. She scored with 20 points along with nine rebounds, six assists and a steal, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 2-for-4 from three.
Angel Reese was right behind Morrow with a double-double of her own in 13 points along with 10 rebounds. She also led the team with four steals.
Hailey Van Lith added 10 points along with four assists and a 3-pointer, and Aalyah Del Rosario blocked three shots off the bench.
The only thing to not go LSU’s way Monday night was foul trouble. Williams fouled out of the game with about three minutes left, and Reese and Last-Tear Poa each had four fouls.
Janiah Barker led Texas A&M in the loss with 21 points and nine rebounds. Aicha Coulibaly scored 16 points and six rebounds, and Sahara Jones added 10 points.

The Aggies were without senior guard Endyia Rogers on Monday night. Rogers totaled 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists the last time Texas A&M met with LSU earlier this season.
Regardless, it was a complete victory for the Tigers, and one they’ll be able to look back on as an example of what they can do when everything clicks.
Monday night’s win marks the fourth straight win for the Tigers, the most wins in a row that they’ve had since the start of SEC play in early January.
Of those four wins, two of them have come on the road. Of LSU’s three losses in SEC play, two of them came on the road. It seems like LSU is getting more comfortable playing in opposing settings.
But LSU returns home for Thursday night, where they’ll face one of the three SEC teams to give them a loss, the Auburn Tigers.
LSU will tip-off against Auburn on Thursday night at 8 p.m. C.T. from the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The game will be broadcasted live on the SEC Network.
