LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey was named to the Naismith Coach of the Year late-season watchlist by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Wednesday.
Mulkey was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
Mulkey is one of 15 coaches to make the list alongside Dawn Staley of South Carolina, Tara Vanderveer of Stanford, Lisa Bluder of Iowa and Kenny Brooks of Virginia Tech.
Most recently, Mulkey won the Associated Press College Basketball Coach of the Year Award in 2021 after leading LSU to the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament in her first season at LSU.
She exceeded expectations in her second season at LSU, as the team led by Angel Reese and Alexis Morris won a national championship over Iowa 102-85.

This championship marked her fourth in her head coaching career, as she won three titles during her 21-year coaching career at Baylor.
Her third national championship at Baylor in 2019 made her the third coach to win three or more NCAA Division 1 women’s basketball championships, joining UConn’s Geno Auriemma and Tennessee’s Pat Summitt.
Mulkey is in her 24th year as a head coach, where her third LSU team is currently 22-4 and ranked No. 13 in the country.
