EPISODE 2: Our Friends In The Milky Way
Original Air Date: 2-22-1982
Rebroadcast Date: 7-11-2024
Nestled in the vastness of the universe is a small community dubbed the local group. Within the group is a spectacular pinwheel galaxy called the Milky Way. Deriving its name from a Greek epic, the Milky Way was thought to be the byproduct of a startled Goddess Hera, creating a miraculous collective of stars and celestial bodies. Within this brightly illuminated whirlwind of dust and light is a quaint yet busy network of planets poised at one of the galaxy’s talons named the solar system. This community is home to 9 cosmic masses that revolve around a middle-aged dwarf star named Helios. Join us tonight as we discover the planets of the solar system and find out the subtle untold beauties.
