LSU has hired Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker to fill its own defensive coordinator vacancy, the school announced Friday.
Baker agreed to a three-year, $2.5 million per year contract, making him the highest paid assistant coach in the country, according to The Advocate.
The hiring comes two days after it was announced former defensive coordinator Matt House would not return in 2024.
Baker spent the last two seasons as Missouri’s defensive coordinator after spending a year as linebacker’s coach at LSU in 2021. He spent six seasons prior to that as a defensive coordinator at both Louisiana Tech and Miami.
His time at Louisiana tech isn’t his only tie to Louisiana. He played college football at Tulane from 2000-2004 and his wife, Roslyn, was an All-SEC soccer player at LSU from 2005-2008.
