The parents of the LSU student who died in a hazing incident in 2017 were awarded $6.1 million in a wrongful death suit by a Baton Rouge jury, according to The Advocate.
Gruver, 18, died from alcohol poisoning and aspiration in September 2017 12 hours after being forced to drink high volumes of strong alcohol while being grilled by members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity in a hazing ritual, according to The Advocate.
Gruver was from north Fulton County, Georgia, and was studying journalism.
