LSU starting quarterback Jayden Daniels is probable to play against Florida this weekend after suffering a head injury in LSU’s loss to Alabama, head coach Brian Kelly confirmed Thursday.
Daniels suffered the injury on a high hit that was called for roughing the passer against Dallas Turner in the fourth quarter of LSU’s 42-28 loss. He attempted to return two plays later but sat out for the rest of the game.
“He’s been able to prepare in the manner that he feels comfortable and we are comfortable, or we wouldn’t put him out there,” Kelly said.
Daniels threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns while running for 163 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game against Alabama. He has thrown for an SEC-leading 2,792 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also leads all SEC quarterbacks in rushing yards with 684.
Logan Diggs was the only other player listed on the injury report ahead of the game. Kelly said Diggs practiced in a non-contact jersey on Thursday and is questionable for Saturday’s game.
The matchup with Florida is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night and will be televised on the SEC Network.
