Daniels was injured late in the game against Alabama after a big hit from Dallas Turner, who was flagged for roughing the passer on the play. Daniels tried to return two plays later but returned to the sidelines, and he didn’t step on the field again for the rest of the game.
When asked about Turner’s hit, Coach Brian Kelly said they sent the play to the league office to review a potentially missed targeting call.
“We felt like it checked all the boxes,” Kelly said. “We want to protect the quarterback here, obviously.”
Kelly said Daniels has “made improvements” with his injury since Saturday, but said they will have to “see how it plays out from day-to-day.”
