The Punk Edit is here!! A genre that we’ve hinted at for weeks and emerged in the mid 70s. It’s defined by its short, fasted pasted songs and shouting vocals. As well and anti-establishment lyrics that are blunt. Also, barely any guitar or drum solos because they were seen as self indulgent.
In 1977, Punk experienced a second wave and in the early 80s experienced a split into many subgenres (hardcore, pop punk, new wave, riot grrrl, and more).
Punk fashion is also very closely intertwined with the movement– safety pins, bondage pants, ripped clothes. Actually, the Sex Pistols hung out at Vivienne Westwood’s store quite often.
