As “Halloweekend” comes to an end, it’s not necessarily time to hang up your latex, masks and capes.
If you’re staying in for Halloween and still want to partake in fun festivities, here’s a list of things to do at home.
1. Costume Karaoke
Just because you’re staying home for the night doesn’t mean you can’t dress up. Here’s the twist: pick a theme for your guests to follow. You might have seen videos like this on TikTok where the host tells individuals to come dressed as their favorite musician, something that starts with the first letter of their name, their favorite sitcom character; the ideas are endless. Also, set up a festive photo booth to capture moments from the evening. After you take pics for Instagram, sing and dance the night away with friends through a few rounds of karaoke.
2. Movie Marathon
When in doubt, get in your pajamas, grab yummy snacks and keep the movies rolling. Whether it’s the occasional jump scare cult classic or a movie where Halloween makes a cameo like “Mean Girls,” it’s the perfect night to watch back-to-back films.
3. Charcuterie Board Party
The “bring a board” trend went viral sometime in 2020-2021. Each person makes a charcuterie board with a different theme. These ideas can range from spooky treats, Canes, and Torchy’s to your classic cheese, crackers and nuts board. It’s not only a fun activity for you and your friends but a creative twist on a potluck. Plus, what’s a night in without food?
4. Mystery Party/Scavenger Hunt
When trying to be the “hostess with the mostess,” planning activities for your guests is the way to go. You know what they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” Whether the night consists of playing one big game of live-action clue or an elaborate scavenger hunt, a game night is such an interactive experience to create memories with friends. Be creative, be safe and enjoy!
5. Pumpkin Carving
Since the beginning of time, the 18th century to be exact, individuals have participated in the act of carving pumpkins. This is an activity that’s not going out of style anytime soon. Gather your friends, grab pumpkin spice lattes and yummy takeout, and let the carving begin. As college students, this can also be a therapeutic experience to take your mind off homework, exams and other stressors. Turn on your fave Disney Channel Halloween episode and embrace the nostalgic bliss.
