Fall Reading Event
The Creative Writing Club at LSU invites all writers at the university to share their work at another installation of their fall reading event. The event will be hosted at Dodson Garden, behind Dodson Auditorium, at 5 p.m. No prior registration or membership is required.
Tigerama
The LSU Department of Bands and the LSU School of Music present the 41st annual Tigerama musical extravaganza. The musical showcase is curated with LSU fans in mind and features the Golden Band from Tigerland. What Lurks in the Library?
LSU Libraries is hosting “What Lurks in the Library?” on the front lawn of the main library on October 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This spooky-themed open house will have door prizes and Halloween treats, while aiming to provide information about the resources and services to students at the library.
Latin American Independence – The Spanish Town Story
Historian Robert “Bob” Freeland sheds light on the historical significance of the Spanish Town neighborhood and its place in the broader narratives of the Americas. This presentation will be at Capitol Park Museum at 6 p.m. Entry is free.

Pelican to Mars Lantern Fest!
This Asian Street market festival will be hosted at Pelican to Mars: Pet Friendly Bar at 5 p.m. Asian restaurants, artisans and musicians will be participating in the festival, with a performance from the Southern Lotus Lion Dance Association at 8 p.m.
Durand Jones with Busman’s Holiday
Chelsea’s Live will host a performance from soul musician Durand Jones and accompanying Busman’s Holiday. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available at https://www.chelseaslive.com/.

Antioch Artisans Market at the Artist’s Loft
The Artist’s Loft will be hosting another installation of its weekly art market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Handcrafted gifts from local artisans, vintage pieces and fresh produce will be sold. Admission is free and pets are allowed when on a leash.
Baton Rouge Zydeco vs. Columbus River Dragons
The hockey team Baton Rouge Zydeco will be hosting its match against Columbus River Dragons in Raising Cane’s River Center. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.

Trick or Treat at LSU Museum of Art
The LSU Museum will be hosting a family-friendly Halloween extravaganza. Stop by the gallery to trick or treat, participate in art-based activities or hear some spooky stories. Located on the 5th floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts at 6 p.m.
Live After Five
Another installation of Baton Rouge’s live concert series will be hosted at David S. Rhoher Plaza at Blue Roots, 10 S River Road, located downtown behind city hall. Cover band After 8 will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free and food vendors will be on site.

Louisiana Book Festival
The state’s annual book festival will be hosted at the State Library of Louisiana downtown at 701 N Fourth St. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature over 200 writers and include exhibits, book talks, signings and arts and crafts. Admission is free.
Movies & Music on the Lawn at Baton Rouge Gallery
Baton Rouge Gallery’s popular film series returns with a performance from local artist Ben Living paired with a viewing of the 1921 classic silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Admission is free for all.

13 Social on 350 Third St. downtown will be hosting a listening party of Taylor Swift’s most popular hits. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be featured drink specials. You must be 21+ to enter 13 Social.
Greater Baton Rouge State Fair
The local state fair has returned for another autumn. It is located at Airline Highway Park and opens on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets range from $10 – $40 and can be purchased ahead of time at https://www.gbrsf.com/. Please note that only clear bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12” will be allowed inside the fair.
