It’s the final high school season for four-star safety and LSU commit, Joel Rogers. He’s grown-up playing football at West Feliciana High School, but this season feels different for him.
“Senior year, it’s all different,” Rogers said. “I’ve been playing with these guys the whole time, and this is the last time we get to do it, so it’s special.”
Rogers is a 6-foot, 180-pound safety from West Feliciana High School in St. Francisville, Louisiana. According to 247sports, he is ranked as the No. 20 safety in the country, the No. 6 recruit in Louisiana, and the No. 225 overall recruit in the country.
The four-star recruit chose LSU over schools like Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M and more. Out of his 14 offers, none met his needs the way LSU did.
“Nothing felt like LSU,” Rogers said. “Since the first time I stepped on campus, it felt like home. It felt like a brotherhood with the rest of the recruits and coaches.”
Rogers’ closest bond out of everyone on the coaching staff is with safeties coach, Kerry Cooks. Not only will Cooks be his position coach once he arrives on campus, but he is also the region recruiter for Rogers’ hometown.
The West Feliciana two-way star is just as close with his fellow commits in LSU’s Class of 2024. Since many of the commits are from Louisiana, they get to see and even play one another often.
In West Feliciana’s jamboree, Rogers matched up against four-star tight end from Zachary High School, Trey’Dez Green, who is committed to LSU for both football and basketball.
“We hang out every time we go to LSU, and it’s good to see those guys every time,” Rogers said. “It’s like family and we’re not even there yet.”
Rogers and his West Feliciana team are currently 3-1 on the season. LSU fans came catch him in Baton Rouge on Friday, Sept. 29 as he and his teammates get set to face off with Istrouma.
