After completing one of the most unforgettable nights in history, two LSU gymnasts were honored by the Southeastern Conference league office Tuesday.
Senior all-arounder Rheagan Courville was named SEC Specialist of the Week, and freshman all-arounder Myia Hambrick won SEC Freshman of the Week.
Courville, who didn’t compete in the all-around, received a perfect 10 on vault in Friday’s competition against Minnesota. This marked as her first perfect score this season, and the third of her career.
She followed it by finishing her last event in the PMAC on the uneven bars scoring a 9.925, giving the senior her eighth bars title in nine tries this season.
Hambrick set or tied a new career high on every event Friday night. She finished with a career-high all-around score of 39.575. This score marked as the highest score by any SEC freshman this season, and the second-highest of any freshman throughout the nation.
