Baby Kate sits down with 2k14 Battle of the Bands winners The Dulac Smack for an appetizing interview that is sure to make you drool and hungry for anything covered in a tangy funk sauce. The Dulac Smack talks about winning Battle of the Bands and their upcoming Groovin’ on the Grounds set, Band Moms, upcoming Baton Rouge Shows, and the necessity of the blues.
You can listen to the hilarious interview below along with their in studio performance, tracks, and other little nuggets provided for your pleasure. At the bottom of the post is the audio from their in-studio performance. The Dulac Smack will be playing a jam packed weekend with shows on March 5th at Chelsea’s, March 6th at L’auberge, March 7th at Boudreaux and Thibodeaux’s, as well as their Groovin’ on the Grounds set on April 17th.
1. 0:50 The band gets sexy, for just a moment, to set the mood.
2. 1:42 The band talks about winning Battle of the Bands, gives accolades to their fellow Battle of the Bands participants, and finds out that Baby Kate was actually a judge. For more information on this Spring’s Groovin’ on the Grounds be sure to follow LSU Students on Target on Facebook.
3. 2:30 We talk Moms and future **exclusive** Dulac Smack/TLC tv shows.
4. 3:33 The Dulac Smack talks about their upcoming Baton Rouge shows. For more information on this weekend’s shows, as well as other Dulac Smack events, check their website here.
5. 4:01 The band lets listeners know what to expect from their shows. For picture proof of Dulac Smack shows, as if you weren’t convinced, be sure to follow them on Instagram here.
6. 5:10 We discuss their killer (and free!!) Chicken and Rice EP, available for download here. Praise be for all of those fresh pots that allowed this recording to happen.
7. 6:51 We talk about our favorite tracks from the EP. Baby Kate’s is Chicken and Rice. Zack Blum, aka Black Zoom, likes Red Heels for the drums, even though he’s biased. Lonely Bones and On My Way are also named as favorites for whether you wanna get chicken fried or keep it tender.
8. 8:40 The band talks origins and the “war like camaraderie” that Catholic school taught them.
9. 9:50 We wrap up the interview with what they’re listening to today. While Taylor Swift and Bieber are obvious choices (and jokes), vocalist and bass player Gabriel Delaney mentions Son House as a blues necessity.
