Update–Tuesday, 4:50 p.m.: In an email, University media relations director Ernie Ballard confirmed that an “interim suspension of activities for Acacia [fraternity] has occurred.”
Acacia fraternity is under investigation for behavioral misconduct allegations, according to a University statement.
The University is contacting the Acacia national office and investigating actions on campus.
“The university is investigating behavioral misconduct allegations involving the Acacia fraternity. LSU is in contact and working with the Acacia national office, the alumni and chapter leadership. In any investigation, LSU follows policy statement 52 to address concerns,” reads the statement provided by University media relations director Ernie Ballard.
According to the University’s policy on due process protection, Policy Statement Number PS-52, misconduct is defined as, “any official or unofficial act or omission by a student organization or its members that is contrary to the provisions of a University regulation and/or a local, state, or federal law or regulation.”
The policy statement also says most student groups have policies on hazing and other misconduct offenses.
