The Special Olympics of Louisiana held its annual indoor games this weekend in Baton Rouge. The athletes got the opportunity to participate in indoor sports such as basketball, bowling and tennis.
This is one of four state level events that the Special Olympics hold each year. Participants in these events can attempt to qualify to compete in the US and World Special Olympic Games.
“Our athletes really look forward to this,” President and CEO of Special Olympics Pat Carpenter Bourgeois said.
The Special Olympics is also getting more involved with LSU. They currently have a club on campus called Special Olympics College.
The Special Olympics of Louisiana is really glad to be helping families.
“The families really get a lot out of it,” Brock Banos, Director of Sports and Competition explained.
Bourgeois and Banos are working with the rest of the Special Olympics of Louisiana to make people more aware and tolerant of people that are disabled
