Andrew Mahtook and Hannah Knight of Here & Now won the Student Government presidential and vice presidential election Wednesday, garnering 51.88 percent of the vote.
“Speechless,” Mahtook said shortly after results were revealed. “The past four months culminating in this.”
Mahtook and Knight defeated the Make it Matter ticket of Helen Frink and Wesley Davis, which got 33.57 percent of the vote. David Scotton and Moe Ahsan of the More for LSU ticket received 14.55 percent of the vote.
This year’s election turnout of 8,908 widely surpassed the turnout of the 2014 election, where only 5,284 votes were registered.
