Shooting guard Brandon Sampson, the No. 1 ranked player in Louisiana according to 247Sports, signed his National Letter of Intent to join the LSU basketball program Monday morning.
The Madison Prep product and former St. John’s commit chose the Tigers over the Red Storm and Oklahoma State. With the signing of Sampson, LSU jumped Kentucky for the No. 1 overall recruiting class, according to the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
Sampson, a 6-foot-4 guard, joins consensus five-star commits Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney as well as former four-star prospect and Arizona transfer Craig Victor.
Sampson averaged 15.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists this season and led his team to a Class 1A State Championship, finishing with a 34-0 record.
