While Style Archives normally covers stylish television and movie characters from the past, there was just something about Chloe Sevigny in “Bloodline” that drew me in and made me need to write an archive for her character Chelsea O’Bannon.
For those of you that don’t know, “Bloodline” is a Netflix original series that was dumped onto the program a couple weeks back. The entire first season is there for you to binge watch as you please and I recommend watching as fast as possible.
The series follows the Rayburns, a dysfunctional family who own a bed and breakfast in Florida. With the judgemental parents, the deadbeat brother and the policeman brother as just some of the characters, you know already you’re in for a good show.
Sevigny’s character O’Bannon is a friend to the Rayburns, especially Danny Rayburn, the deadbeat brother. The two form a close and, at times, toxic relationship throughout the season. However, O’Bannon is always looking for the best in people no matter how bad it gets.
Her style mirrors her easy going personality through her bohemian dress. Living in hot and humid Florida, O’Bannon takes advantage of wearing as little clothes as possible and keeping her bikini underneath it all.
And with a hot and humid summer on its way to Louisiana, she’s the perfect summer style muse.
The first necessity to an O’Bannon wardrobe is a well-fitted bikini. You never see her in just the bikini, but the top is underneath tank tops and overalls acting as a bralette. This is perfect when you never know when you’re going to hit the beach. Or if you just want to change up your undergarment game.
Along with the bikini, O’Bannon finds her bohemian inspiration through flowy tops, colorful maxi skirts and denim overalls. She always looks a little disheveled but in the “I wish I could look that good when trying not to look good” way. Investing in these summer items will be easy with stores readily stocking them.
Another option is to go thrifting. Some of the best hippie-inspired clothing is found in the bottom of a barrel nestled in Goodwill.
