The No. 7 seed LSU men’s tennis team’s stay at the SEC Tournament ended Friday with a 4-0, shutout loss to No. 2 seed Texas A&M.
The Tigers (17-8, 6-6 Southeastern Conference) dropped a tightly contested doubles point to the Aggies (19-4, 11-1 SEC) and couldn’t overturn the deficit in singles play.
LSU and Texas A&M split the first two doubles contests, leaving the match’s first point to be decided on Court 3. Junior Tam Trinh and freshman Simon Freund fell, 7-5, allowing the Aggies to take a 1-0 lead into the singles competition.
Texas A&M didn’t allow LSU to get back into the match by claiming the first three courts to earn the shutout win, although sophomore Jordan Daigle and senior Chris Simpson had leads for the Tigers on Courts 1 and 2 when the Aggies clinched the match.
LSU now waits for its postseason fate to be determined April 28.
