Last meeting: The two teams met March 13-15, and LSU took two of three games on the road to claim the series. The Tigers fell, 4-3, in the opening game of the series but rebounded to claim Game 2, 14-10, and Game 3, 10-3. The Tigers outhit the Gators 36-17 during the three games. LSU remains the only team to score more than six runs in a game against Florida this season.
LSU’s last game: LSU relied on timely hitting, solid defense and a strong pitching performance to defeat Auburn, 6-1, in its Women’s College World Series opener. Freshman pitcher Carley Hoover threw a complete game, finishing with 5 strikeouts and allowing no walks. Bianka Bell and Kellsi Kloss each hit a home run, Kloss’ blast a two-run shot and Bell’s a solo effort. Sahvanna Jaquish added a two-run double, and an error spotted LSU its sixth run of the game. Emily Griggs went 3-3 on the day, tying the record for the most hits by an LSU player in a Women’s College World Series game.
Florida’s last game: In her first game since being crowned USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year, senior Lauren Haeger led the Gators in the circle and at the plate en route to a 7-2 victory against Tennessee. Haeger homered in her first at-bat of the game and twirled a one-hit complete game. Freshman first baseman Kayli Kvistad hit a two-run shot in the third, and four Tennessee errors aided the Gators in scoring runs four through seven.

LSU’s “Fantastic Four” pitching rotation, comprised of freshmen Hoover and Allie Walljasper and sophomores Baylee Corbello and Kelsee Selman, has a 1.74 ERA this season, seventh best in the nation.
The Tigers placed five players on this year’s NFCA All-American Teams, tied with Michigan for the most selections in the nation. Five selections is the most the program has ever had in a single season. Bell was selected for the first team, and Bailey Landry and Jaquish earned places on the second team. Walljasper and Hoover took two of the three pitching slots on the third team.
