After notching a 10-2 victory against Nebraska on Saturday afternoon, the No. 14 LSU softball team finished the 2015 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 10-0 victory against Northwestern in five innings, continuing its best start in program history.
Despite having the top of the lineup shut down in the first inning, the Tigers (16-0) exploded in the bottom of the second to score eight runs on seven hits.
Five different Tigers drove in runs in the bottom of the second, including two extra-base hits by junior shortstop Bianka Bell and sophomore Sahvanna Jaquish.
Bell drove in her 23rd RBI of the season with a double down the left field line, and Jaquish drove in Bell with a triple to right for her 26th RBI.
After sophomore right fielder Bailey Landry drove in sophomore infielder Constance Quinn with a sac fly in the third, Jaquish capped off scoring for the Tigers with her sixth home run this season to lead off the fourth.
Sophomore pitcher Kelsee Selman shined in the circle, tallying seven strikeouts and allowing only three hits in her third shutout complete game performance this season.
