Similar to last week, I’ve chosen a movie character that has one very basic outfit.
Angelina Jolie plays Lisa in the movie “Girl, Interrupted.” Lisa is a character Winona Ryder’s Susanna Kaysen runs into in a mental institution for young women. Lisa is very much on the crazy side and is a dangerous character for Kaysen to run into.
One the wardrobe side, however, her clothing choices are anything but dangerous.
But one thing her clothing choices are is cool girl chic. Lisa may be known as crazy but she’s the crazy everyone either wants to be or wants to be with.
Her ensembles consist of a rumpled t-shirt, bootcut pants and Chelsea boots. She adds a pair of ’90s sunglasses, a think black belt and her signature cigarette as accessories.
To transition the “Girl, Interrupted” look into your wardrobe is most easily achieved through thrift store shopping.
Pick your favorite vintage or second hand shop and look for an older t-shirt and distressed corduroy or denim. Chelsea boots may be easier to find in a shoe store like DSW or Payless. Make sure to pick a pair that’s all black and has a thick heel.
Lastly, include the ’90s sunglasses and cigarette if you wish.
