Jean-Philip Grobler, known by the stage name of St. Lucia, was born in South Africa and is currently based in Brooklyn. His music is inspired by various native instruments to the South African region, and is blended with electronic indie music comparable to Passion Pit. With his clear tenor, he sings over his mixes with to-the-point meaningful lyrics usually pertaining to love and relationships. He released his first self titled EP in 2012 and and a full length album, “When the Night”, in 2013. He and his band mates are currently on tour.
