The LSU softball team (6-0) kept momentum rolling in its opening game of the Tiger Invitational by picking up a 3-0 win against Hofstra.
Freshman pitcher Allie Walljasper threw another complete game shutout to help the Tigers continue their unbeaten start to the season. Walljasper struck out five and only allowed three hits on 71 pitches.
The Tigers did enough at the plate to make sure Walljasper’s efforts in the circle were not in vain. Once again it was junior shortstop Bianka Bell who got LSU’s offense rolling.
Sophomore right fielder Bailey Landry drew a walk in the 3rd inning, and Bell followed with her fourth home run of the season to give LSU a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore second baseman Constance Quinn drove in another run in the 4th with a ground out that allowed junior designated player Kellsi Kloss to score, giving LSU a 3-0 lead that Walljasper would not surrender.
LSU plays against Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. in the second game of its doubleheader.
