Senior guard Keith Hornsby will miss the start of the 2015-16 season after undergoing surgery on Tuesday.
Hornsby, a fifth-year senior, underwent a medical procedure for a minor injury on Tuesday, LSU coach Johnny Jones announced at his first monthly Tipoff Luncheon at L’auberge Hotel and Casino.
“Rather than continue to deal with what is a nagging injury, it is in my best interest to get the surgery done now,” Hornsby said in a news release on Monday. “I look forward to being back on the floor as soon as possible.”
Jones was unable to specify Hornsby’s injury, labeling it as a “minor injury” as of Tuesday.
Jones did not know when Hornsby will be likely to return to action. “I couldn’t put a number on it,” Jones said.
“[Hornsby’s absence] is going to force other guys to step up and make sure they can fill the void of his absence,” Jones said.
