The University of South Carolina could be down to its third quarterback of the season as it heads to Baton Rouge for Saturday’s contest against LSU.
Citing a source, Bleacher Report’s Barrett Sallee tweeted junior walk-on quarterback Perry Orth will start for the Gamecocks (2-3, 0-3 Southeastern Conference) in place of freshman quarterback Lorenzo Nunez, who is recovering from a shoulder injury.
Nunez left the Oct. 3 loss to Missouri in the fourth quarter, where Orth finished the game. Nunez status for Saturday had been uncertain all week, but Sallee also tweeted Nunez could see time against the Tigers (4-0, 2-0 SEC) if he’s healthy enough.
Orth has completed 23-of-47 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown in 2015. He also has two interceptions.
