Scott Angelle is running as a republican candidate for governor and is not happy about the states budget.
“We have far too dedicated moneys [sic] for things other than higher education,” said Angelle. “For far too long Louisiana’s gotten drunk on giving away your money.”
Angelle has pro-life and pro-gun beliefs like the other candidates but has different ideas about higher education.
“Seems to me what we ought to be doing is getting rid of low performing programs,” said Angelle. “As governor, I’ll make certain of that.”
Angelle also plans on lowering the incarceration rate in Louisiana to stop the state’s reputation from being the “prison capitol of the world.”
”I believe that if you are a first time offender for non violent crimes you get a second chance, “ said Angelle. “America is a second chance.”
Student volunteers like Maxie Benoit said she thinks he is the best candidate for governor because he strongly supports TOPS.
However, his rankings in a recent poll show that people were least likely to vote for him.
According to a WAFB-TV/Raycom poll Angelle has 7 percent of the vote, which is one percent lower than Jay Dardenne. The poll also shows that 37 percent of voters are still undecided.
There are also several attack ads about Angelle from David Vitter’s Super Pac. Angelle said this behavior is hypocritical.
“What David likes is one set of rules for everyone else and another set of rules just for him,” said Angelle. “That’s why he doesn’t’ show up.”
Angelle said if he is elected governor he will make Louisiana a better place.
“I don’t think we need a governor who claims to know everything as much as we need a governor whose willing to work with everyone,” said Angelle.
