LSU football is simply better under the lights in Tiger Stadium. When an undefeated Florida team comes into town the stakes are even higher.
“I felt like Tiger Stadium was the finest stadium that I’ve been in in my life,” said LSU head coach Les Miles. “I mean it was just a great, rocking place.”
The Tigers were lead offensively once again by Leonard Fournette who carried the ball for 180 yards and two touchdowns. But the biggest carry of the game was made by Trent Domingue, who scored on a 16-yard fake field goal to give LSU a 35-28 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
“I kind of did blackout a little bit in the middle of it,” said LSU kicker Trent Domingue. “I’m not really sure what happened after that. I just know I ended up on the other side of the field and almost forget to kick the extra point.”
The LSU-Florida rivalry is one that has been full of memorable moments, most of which from the work of Les Miles. Saturday night in Death Valley, the “Mad Hatter” delivered for LSU once again.
“Coach Miles made an excellent call,” said sophomore running back Leonard Fournette. “It was something that surprised everybody.”
“You know they call him the “Mad Hatter” for a reason. He has confidence in everybody and everything that we practice,” said Domingue.
In a game where the LSU offense could not find the endzone in the second half, it was the Tigers’ defense that stood tall when it mattered most and sealed the win.
“Everybody is just playing with a chip on their shoulder,” said LSU quarterback Brandon Harris. “Because people just keep doubting us. We keep answering and we’re just going to continue to work and stay the course.”
Up next for the Tigers are the red hot 6-1 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers who come into Death Valley next Saturday before the bye week.
