Due to the cancellation of the Akron baseball program, Zips senior left-handed pitcher John Valek III is transferring to LSU and will be eligible for the 2016 season, according to multiple reports.
Valek III was Akron’s Friday night starter in 2015, recording a 6-6 record with 3.25 ERA in 99 ⅔ innings. He also had 62 strikeouts to just 26 walks last season.
