Brendan Suhr, former University of Central Florida basketball assistant coach and director of program development, will fill LSU’s associate coaching vacancy, the program announced Tuesday morning.
Suhr comes to the Tigers with more than 25 years of experience as an NBA assistant, including with the 1989 and 1990 league champion Detroit Pistons. He also worked as the lead scout for the 1992 U.S. Olympic gold medal team, known as the “Dream Team.”
“We are very excited with the addition of Coach Brendan Suhr to our coaching staff,” said LSU coach Johnny Jones in a news release. “He brings a great deal of experience with a wealth of knowledge that will certainly be very beneficial and impactful for our LSU basketball program and players. We look forward to him starting here this week as we begin to prepare for our upcoming trip and games in Australia.”
The opening became available when newly hired associate coach John Treloar decided to move on from LSU in July. Prior to that, Eric Musselman commanded the position last season before becoming Nevada’s new head coach.
