The progressive rock, jam band, Moon Taxi, is known to their hometown of Nashville as one of the best live acts of the south. The group is touring the country in anticipation of their upcoming album Daybreaker which is the follow-up to 2013’s Mountains Beaches Cities.
Daybreaker supports Moon Taxi’s claim to fame of being a juggernaut live. It is the first recorded album where all five members of the group were present to perform and rehearse as a band in studio instead of bringing in bits and pieces produced alone at home. Not only that, Daybreaker was produced by rock’s critically acclaimed sound engineer, Jacquire King, who has worked with Modest Mouse, James Bay, Tom Waits, and Kings of Leon. King has won three Grammys, including “Record of the Year” with Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody.” With the help of Jacquire King, Moon Taxi is ranked with contemporary rock’s finest.
See Moon Taxi at Varsity Theatre tomorrow, September 17th.
Check back this weekend to see DJ Strangelove’s review of Moon Taxi’s show this Thursday.
Daybreaker is out October 2, 2015.
