The LSU volleyball team overcame a season-opening slump and captured it first win of the season on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers (1-5) faced another difficult weekend series at the Bobcat Invitational in the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.
LSU lost both matches of its doubleheader on Friday. The team opened the weekend in troubling fashion, adding another lost to its then winless season in straight sets 25-19, 25-19, 25-16, to the tournament-hosting Ohio Bobcats (5-2).
Later that night, the Lady Tigers faced Michigan (6-0) in its second match of the day. LSU fought, but it wasn’t enough. The Lady Wolverines defeated the Lady Tigers in four sets (25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 25-16), ending another disappointing day for LSU.
LSU didn’t have much time to correct their mistakes as they finished their weekend at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday against the Xavier Musketeers (2-4).
The Lady Tigers won its first match of the season in four sets against Xavier (21-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18).
LSU continues action this Friday in its opening home match of the season against the Purdue Boilermakers at 7 p.m. in the PMAC.
