Former LSU cornerback and four-time NFL Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson donated one of the largest contributions to LSU Athletics by a former student-athlete, said LSU SID Michael Bonnette in a news release.
Peterson committed $500,000 in cash, along with another $500,000 in promised commitments — all of which will go toward renovating the LSU Football Operations Building.
“We are very proud and appreciative of Patrick and his family for this amazing gift,” said LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva in the release. “Patrick is a great ambassador for LSU and serves as a tremendous role model for our players.”
LSU also agreed to rename its weight room in the Football Operations Building “The Peterson-Roberts Weight Room.”
Peterson was recognized for his contribution on the field just before play suspended during LSU’s contest against McNeese State University on Saturday.
