Some fans may have been more disappointed than others at the cancellation of Saturday’s McNeese State game
For freshmen, McNeese State would have been their first home game in Tiger Stadium. After a few minutes of play, the players left the field due to a severe weather alert.
The severe weather led to a three hour weather delay in Tiger Stadium.
“I was still hopeful, but then it started raining some more,” Stewart Lockett, freshman biological engineering major, said.
Even though the actual game was cut short, students said tailgating before hand made the experience memorable.
“It’s definitely a different atmosphere, being in the student section and with the chants even though we got rained on it’s still a win,” Hayden Harris, freshman biology major said.
Students say the “tiger spirit,” was still present as they attended an LSU football game for the first time as a student.
“All the expectations that I set for LSU, they raised the bar,” Laura Dore, freshman biological engineering major, said, “It was a good experience.”
The LSU Athletic Department announced on Tuesday that all students and anyone else who purchased a ticket to the cancelled game against McNeese State will be fully refunded.
