All tickets from LSU’s no contest against McNeese State on Saturday will be fully refunded at game value, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva announced on Tuesday.
The situation many experienced on Saturday night comes without precedent. As previously reported, the LSU football program hasn’t had a game cancellation in decades, dating back to World War I, where an entire season was omitted.
“Since this is a nearly unprecedented situation, we have had to thoroughly explore our options in addressing the matter of ticket refunds,” Alleva said in the news release. “In the end, we believe that issuing the refund is quite simply the right thing to do in this case. We have a plan in place that fairly reimburses fans who purchased tickets through our ticket office.”
All LSU football season-ticket holders, including student season-ticket holders, will be refunded prices of $25-35 for regular season-ticket holders and $4-11 for students. The prices are varied due to a variety of purchasing packages.
“It’s obviously an unfortunate situation since we had over 100,000 fans in Tiger Stadium for the start of game, and the atmosphere throughout the campus was electric ,” Alleva said. “Our fans again demonstrated why they are the best in the nation, and we appreciate their patience as we administer this process.”
