Infamous twerker Miley Cyrus took the stage as host at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Throughout the night Cyrus expressed her eccentric fashion sense, donning colorful and risqué ensembles.
The show was a roller coaster, including awkward interactions with nominees, wardrobe malfunctions and an overall feeling of forced humor and reactions thanks to Cyrus’ uncomfortable interactions with various celebrities.
One of the more memorable interactions of the night came when Nicki Minaj called out Cyrus after accepting her award for Best Hip-Hop Video. Minaj’s remarks stemmed from Cyrus’s comments about Minaj during an interview with the New York Times on Thursday.
The remainder of the show continued in the same strained tone, adding in lame drug jokes and stale pre-recorded skits during commercial breaks.
This year proved being a host doesn’t keep them from also performing, as Cyrus belted her new song “Dooo It!” accompanied by fellow friends and dancers from the LGBTQ community.
In the last few seconds of the broadcast, she announced the release of her new album “Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz,” available for free download on her official website.
This was one roller coaster ride where we were happy to see the end.
