Pending approval from the LSU Board of Supervisors at its Jan. 29 meeting in Shreveport, new LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron will receive a two-year contract with a base salary of $450,000 per year.
The $450,000 base salary is identical to former Tigers defensive line coach Brick Haley, according to USA Today’s assistant coach salary database from 2014. Haley is now relegated to an “intern” role according to LSU coach Les Miles.
Defensive coordinator Kevin Steele’s contract is also set to be approved, but the contract was not included in the Board’s initial agenda. LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard told The Daily Reveille the athletic department had not yet sent the contract.
The Board will also approve contract extensions of four assistant coaches — running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson, tight ends coach Steve Ensminger, wide receivers coach Adam Henry and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond.
Ensminger, Henry and Raymond will receive two-year extensions, ending in 2017, while Wilson’s deal extends until 2018.
Henry will receive the largest salary bump of the four assistants, according to the Board’s agenda, going from a $320,000 salary to $375,000.
While Ensminger’s $300,000 salary remains the same, Wilson’s will bump from $650,000 to $660,000, according to the Board’s agenda. Raymond will also receive a $10,000 salary bump totaling to $310,000.
