Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” has found success at the box office and among critics and audiences, but has also incited negative responses from several celebrities.
The film debuted successfully grossing $107.2 million making it the biggest movie opening during the month of January ever. It has also landed five Oscar nominations including best picture and best actor for leading man Bradley Cooper.
Actor and comedian Seth Rogen shared his thoughts about the film Sunday with his followers on Twitter. Rogen tweeted that the movie reminded him of “Nation’s Pride,” the nazi propaganda film appearing in the last act of Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds.”
The tweet elicited strong responses from dozens of Twitter users and attracted the attention of several news outlets. Rogen responded to the outpour regarding the tweet on Twitter Monday and stated he wasn’t comparing the two films.
Rogen isn’t the only celebrity caught up in controversy regarding his reaction to American Sniper. Director Michael Moore also received negative attention after tweeting Saturday that he was taught snipers were “cowards.”
Rogen attributed the attention his tweets received to it being a slow news day and said his thoughts were blown out of proportion.
