Former Daily Reveille adviser and Manship School of Mass Communication professor Elise Hebert died March 10, according to University Relations. She was 87.
When Hebert worked at the University, the Manship School was under the name of Manship School of Journalism. She graduated from the University with a degree in journalism in 1945.
A University Relations news release says she spent 35 years teaching in the Manship School after earning her Ph.D. from the University of Texas in 1977.
“Elsie was one of the most well respected advertising education professors in the country,” said Bill Ross, professor emeritus in the Manship School and former director of the mass communication department at Texas Tech University, in a news release. “She was the recipient of many awards and served on many national organization committees. One of her most respected awards was when she was named the most distinguished advertising educator by the American Advertising Federation in 1994.”
Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Friday, March 16, from 6-9 p.m., according to the news release. It will also be held Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until a religious service in the funeral home’s chapel starts at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
